Description
The Texas Affordable Housing Specialist (TAHS) certification equips you with the knowledge to help first-time and underserved homebuyers as well as increase sustainable homeownership in Texas. The certification offers 12 CE hours, including the mandatory six-hour United Texas Housing Financing Resources course. Other topics include FHA Lending, Fair Housing, Defining and Marketing Workforce Housing and homebuyer resources related to help address housing affordability.
To earn your certification, you must attend both classes:
TAHS - FHA Lending and Fair Housing Course #48297
License holder will gain understanding of FHA as an entity, its role and function in the home buying process from a lending perspective and how to best serve their clients who are FHA eligible. Being a federal loan program, lending guidelines are directly impacted by Federal Fair Housing Act. License holder will gain an understanding of legal responsibilities related to real estate transactions so not to violate any fair housing guidelines. The course explores the areas of law related to the Fair Housing Act applicable to the day-today encounters of the real estate agent and potential impact on real estate transactions.
TAHS - United Texas Homebuyer Financing Recourses Course #48298
To help more people realize the dream of homeownership. United Texas, the anchor of the Affordable Housing Specialist Certification, gives agents the information needed to help clients with low-cost financing, assistance programs, and a host of other options to make housing more affordable and available to all buyers. Partners for this course include the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation. Course also provides information on possible loan options for Veterans. This Course will introduce the real Estate professional to a variety of programs and resources to help more people realize the dream of homeownership.

Per Person Fee: $85.00 each course or $160.00 for both classes
Refund Policy: A full refund will be issued if notification is received by 11:59pm, 4 calendar days prior to the scheduled class. Cancellations after this time will not be refunded but may be applied to a future class.
Cancellation: If the instructor or provider cancels the course, a full refund will be issued.

This class will be taught virtually via Zoom Communications. You will have your choice to take this CE course from home or at the GMWAR office. Space is limited if you choose to take from the GMWAR office. In order to participate and receive CE for the courses you will need access to a laptop or computer with the capability of running a Zoom meeting with a microphone and camera, reliable internet service, access to the email address on file with the Association to send and retrieve course materials as PDFs and the ability to digitally save any course materials/evaluations to send back to GMWAR via email. These courses will be monitored by a GMWAR staff member to ensure attendance.
2 Courses that will be held on April 2 & 3, 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day.

Each class offers 6 hours of CE Credit.
