Tuesday, June 17, 2025 (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM) (CDT)
Description
The course on different assistance animals and how it relates to Fair Housing, and Landlords and Tenants rights is designed to educate individuals on the legal aspects of assistance animals in housing situations. The course covers various topics such as the definition of assistance animals, the different types of assistance animals, and their legal protections under the Fair Housing Act. The course starts by discussing the Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in the housing sector. This includes the requirement for landlords and property managers to provide reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities, including the use of assistance animals. The course then delves into the different types of assistance animals and their specific roles. It covers the differences between service animals, emotional support animals, and therapy animals, and the legal protections each type of animal is entitled to under the Fair Housing Act.
